Seven candidates qualify for Ball Ground's November election
Three council posts are on the November 3 ballot. Two incumbents drew challengers, and Post 2 has three candidates and no incumbent listed.
Seven candidates qualified to run for Ball Ground City Council in this year's General Municipal Election, according to a public notice posted by the city. Qualifying was held August 17 through 19.
Three posts are on the ballot. Two are held by incumbents seeking re-election; the city's notice lists no incumbent for the third.
Post 1 — Scott Barnes (incumbent) and Paul Sorrentino.
Post 2 — James (Jimmy) Brown, James (Jimmy) Gale, and Daniel (Dan) Homiller. This is the only post with three candidates, and the only one where the qualifying notice does not identify an incumbent. An earlier city notice setting the qualifying fees names the sitting Post 2 member as Annette Homiller, who does not appear on the list of qualified candidates.
Post 3 — Vicki Benefield (incumbent) and David Westrick.
The General Municipal Election will be held Tuesday, November 3. Voter registration and voting information for Cherokee County is available at cherokeegavotes.com.
The council meets in regular session on the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 215 Valley Street, with a work session the first Thursday at 6 p.m. Both are open to the public.
